Keeping with my out of season album work, I just finished a beach album for my dear friend Tracy. I still have mine to finish from the same vacation, plus another winter beach album from December. They are already started so I know is only a matter of time, a long time it seems...
Here are a few photos of the finished album.
The cover made with Graphic 45 By the Sea collection.
The other paper collection I used for the album is a nautical package I got from one of the craft stores some time ago. I don't remember the brand, it may be something new...
Because I use most of the ribbon for stringing beads I used washi tape to finish the tags I added to this page and to the next page too.
Extra photos and journaling cards found their place behind paper bands and fussy cut images.
I printed my photos to some odd size called true media. They are a little smaller that the 4 by 6 and fit nicely on the page. Some photos, like this one, are cut to what ever size felt right for the page.
Another card for writing the story of the day. It seams like I find a page design and play with it for a while. I just noticed that looking at the photos. First it was the tags on the page, then the cards, let's see what's next.
The thing with albums that challenges me the most is the double spreads. All pages facing should have something in common just so I won't get a headache just by looking at an album. I go with colors, and since this album has smaller pages, two 12 by 12 papers are plenty to complete one spread.
"The million dollars experience".
Then I went into a rather plain page design. I think it worked for this page at least.
What do you think about combining stripes? Diagonal and vertical for this page, and repeating the journaling card idea from the previous pages.
Not quite the tag page but again a repeated style element to keep the continuity of the album.
I liked the colors in this photo so much that I wanted to replicate them in the design of the page. I cannot decide if its a good idea or not.
Another page where the colors from the photo helped me choose the paper for the layout. Much better design that the previous page, I think.
I found these stickers at the dollar store and got them for the shells I used on one of the layouts. I was not sure what to do with the palm tree and the surf board. I think it worked on this page.
Another cluster of stickers from the dollar store find; and since the photo is so simple and airy I kept the design simple, maybe to simple...
And here are the shells I bough the sticker sheet for.
These are some of my favorite pages from the album. Simple or elaborated the pages are all done and I can't wait to see what my friend thinks about it.
Keep on crafting!
